Hiya

I have had a M102 (old 745i turbo engine) engine sitting for a while in my garage - there is no history but it seems clean (was an abandoned project for a friend who wanted to turbo his e28)

Now it has the turbo manifold and pipe work to intercooler (no intercooler) and block and head with a dizzy on it.

I wanted to know what the differences are between the m102/m106 engines and the m30 3.5 engine

i.e. compression, valve size, pistons etc. Would I be better off trying to get this running - putting an m30 head on the m102 block - changing over valves etc and what sort of BHP could I get with the turbo it would come with?

Hope someone can help

IMO .. stay with the stock M102,, but running standalone could give you a significant gain,, if all things are hooked correct together,, I/C ,, plumbing etc etc ,,more boost

So how much would the engine be worth - as it's been in my garage for a while and I don't see myself using it in the near future!
