When I take my foot of the accelerator I get a whining noise from somewhere towards the front of the car. Odd and I cannot find the sorce. My wife isn't even in the car. Any suggestions on what to look for?

You have already ruled out the obvious
Just leaves things like next door's cat or a stray kangoroo or perhaps a worn waterpump?

Water pump, or power stering pump?
Can you tell if it is engine speed related or road speed related? Try keeping the same road speed and changing gear/engine revs to see if it canges - or vice versa.
If you think it is road speed related then I would suggest a front wheel bearing. Normally a worn wheel bearing will be noisier if you turning one way or the other. Its usually the inside wheel, so noisey on a left turn means left hand front.

Wait, what? If my left front bearing is bad and I turn right, the left wheel will be more loaded which makes the noise louder?Widge wrote:Water pump, or power stering pump?
