Thanks for the kind words guys, this is my first bmw so it's been a learning curve!

jimbom30cab - She is running the hydraulic booster, I've used all the parts from the donor 540i except the pipework which had to be custom made. I've used the 540i linkage rod to go from the pedal to the original e30 servo mount, which has been moved about 5 inches further towards the a pillar. Then the original e30 bulkhead linkage rod has been cut down, and used to join that to the hydroboost unit. If I can be of any help please get in touch.

Nobby_N - Thanks, the merc is another of my projects, 3.6 24v with an albrex blower waiting to be fitted.

They do rust well. She's a bit earlier than those, 88 w124 e class, and it's a manual! 8)

Looks well tidy. Did you get a prop custom made, if so how much as I'll be getting mine done next week.

Cheers!

To be honest she drives like a 540, albeit a very lively one. It has a "big car" feel to it now, nothing like it was when I first drove it with the original m20 in there.

1st gear is useless as it just spins the rear wheels with a hint of throttle, so I start in 2nd. The engine seems to come alive at around 4000rpm and just want's to get me a speeding ticket! I haven't had her flat out yet, but I did manage to get her just off the clock on a local "de-restricted" section of bypass. The engine sounded glorious too!

The brakes work very well, and with the grip from the fat tyres she will stop quite violently. The front suspension is a little hard but other than that it feels planted.

Phill172 - The engine mounts are custom made by me, 8mm steel plate offcuts from a local metal firm that I welded together.

GB69 - Thanks.

The propshaft is from the 540, I shortened it in 3 places and welded the e30 rear coupling on the end. A loal firm charged me £50 to balance it.

Yea kudos mate, very nice - You've made seemingly light work of the brakes, prop and engine mounts - Well done! I feel we need a video for the noise winkeye

The suspension is a bit of mix and match. At the rear are the trailing arms and disc brakes from an e36 compact, with a pair of z3m rear springs, and a e30 325i lsd diff.

The front suspension use's e36 m3 evo lower arms, koni adjustable shocks for a e36 328i, e30 320i anti roll bar and drop links, e34 540i springs (with 2 coils cut off), and e30 top mounts. The front brakes are e36 m3 evo drilled and vented discs, e36 m3 evo caliper carrier brackets, and e34 540i calipers.

One of the front springs seems a little saggy, so I've just bought a set of koni springs from ebay ment for an e36 328i, hopefully get those fitted this week.
Also I think the rear discs may need upgrading to vented items, the solid ones cant seem to take a hard braking from speed! winkeye
