Hi
Im looking into building a strut brace off a similar design to the sparco/rpm one
The scrap steel i have is 3mmx 25 diameter box and 3mm flat plate for additional gussets and mounting plate .
I can copy the basic shape easily enough but what id like to know is what solutions other companies have come up with for mounting the strut brace to the top mount studs?
Is it okay to use a flat end mounting section that sits on top of the strut towers bumps or should i find a way to countersink the section? so that the nuts can really clamp down to the studs?
Also is it worth building the brace so that the mounting sections have contact with the strut towers centre lip ? or is that just a good way to remove some paint ?
Thanks

if you have 25x3 dont copy the sparco it is much bigger section. with something that small you'd want to copy one of the pinned end bars

cheers reggid - from what ive read the ridged style are better so id like to make a solid one
i had hoped that if i strengthened the joins with 3mm gussets it would be okay, but from your advice i will see what price a larger diameter round is and debate the cost between buying and making one - what size would you recommend for a sparco style?
thanks J
