Have u guys ever had the spring mechanism in the rear view mirror break? I got this mirror from the Zone a while back and it doesn't seem to want to fit onto my convertible base by twisting on....

With a loose base and convertible mirror if all was working correctly should I be able to easily twist these two pieces to sit together by hand? I'd just rather be confident in this before I glue the base onto my windscreen

I used glass glue that I bought from Halfords. So far so good 2 years on. Do not use too much as it spreads when you push it on the glass. Be sure that it looks ok from the outside, ie even. I made the mistake of not checking mine. Hold it in place for a few minutes and then tape it to the windscreen with masking tape or similar and leave it to set. Give it a good 24 hours.
Yes, it should clip in by hand but you need to give a strong twist / push...
