My cabby (M20 2.5) has recently passed its mot with an advisory on the exhaust - the baffles are shot on the mid box and its blowing slightly as well i think he said. I'm thinking of changing the exhaust for a long life but i'm also planning on an engine swap at some point in the future - I want to change to the M52 2.8.
I dont know much about exhausts so my quesiton is, if i pay for a Longlife to be made and fitted, if in a year or so down the line i change to a M52, will the exhaust still fit? or will it be wasted money.
cheers

Exhaust is one of the more difficult parts of an M50 conversion(M52 is just a stroked M50 but with an alloy block)as the block sits at a different angle to M20.
There's no off the shelf manifold available,it's down to your welding skills to modify an ex M52 stainless manifold to fit your chosen downpipe.
I am given to understand that Danthe can provide such a manifold/downpipe,but I have no idea of the cost involved,I further understand that these are made to mount up to a standard E30 exhaust, but bear in mind that there are at least two differing E30 6 cylinder exhausts available!
So it may be a good
for you to do a little further research....

I'd be just looking for a good second hand front section to keep you going and then tackle the M52 exhaust later. I have two facelift front sections from a two peice system in stock at the moment if you are interested.

cheers guys, I've always planned on a danthe manifold so have asked him if the longlife will fit.
B7, cheers. I'll keep that in mind. Will get back to you.
