Had a search, but this doesn't seem to be covered in the wiki???

I've got the most annoying, irritating vibration from my handbrake!!! It's coming from the actual lever inside the car.
It looks to have worked slightly loose and has some play left/right, possibly coming from the guide pin 6 in the diag below.

So is that something that can be tightened, or replaced???
Or should I just look at swapping the whole handbrake lever for one that's more solid???

Handbrake levers will eventually break if the cables have been adjusted instead of the shoes, resulting in excessive force being used to set the brake, but I've never heard of a rattling intact one.
Are you sure your prop shaft centre bearing is OK? Vibration here would probably shake the handbrake lever.

I've only adjusted the cable once, many years ago - but it did have new rear brakes done by a local garage recently (though I don't think they adjusted much as the handbrake doesn't hold on a hill anymore  ).

Pretty sure the centre bearing is OK, though I haven't actually looked at it!!! I've heard them knocking before though so it can't be that bad at the mo!!!
I will get it checked next time the cars up in the air though, just to be sure!!!)

There is definite play in the handbrake lever as I can move it a few mm each way (left/right) and when I hold onto it, or give it a knock, it stops the vibration (noise!) for a while!!!

The touring is very harsh, (coilovers, near solid bushes/engine & box mounts), so I'm assuming the excess vibration has just knackered it???

So I presume no one has dismantled a handbrake lever then???
