Wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't the positive battery terminal being loose - there's wires from there straight to the fuse box.
Could also be the connections on the starter motor, since the alternator goes straight to there.
What E30 is this?

There's a female hex bolt (allen bolt) visible on the deck of the fusebox. Check that some muppet hasn't loosened this off, but don't turn it without lifting the deck of the fusebox and getting a spanner on the nut underneath.
The bolt/nut is connected directly to battery +, so disconnect the battery neg., or be very careful not to touch the other end of your tools to earthed metal.

There's NOTHING in the fusebox that affects the running of the engine, other than the joint between two large red wires, held together by the bolt I mentioned in my last post, and the fuel pump fuse.

Yep Brian the allen bolt is spinning and the hole box is quite loose , i took out a few of the square relays/fuses and the contacts were slightly black (i cleaned em up) , i haven't checked the contact on the fuel pump fuse (that is the square one that is separate to the box right).

If the bolt is loose you need to get the top of the fuse box up (three self tappers - one outside, one inside and visible, and one inside a under a relay) and have a look to see if there's any damage before tightening the bolt. It's quite safe to pull fairly hard on the wiring to get the lid up enough - just make sure that the 6(?) pin plug that goes onto pins in the middle of the circuit board is fully on before you put it back together. If you can't get enough spare wire, then there are a couple of cable ties behind the glovebox that need cutting.
Fuel pump fuse is #11, right amongst the others, but is unique in that it is totally electrically separated from everything else in the box.
