EWS Delete E36 M52B28 OBD2

I just bought an m52b28 which I plan on swapping into my e30 touring, I have previously done an m5x swap using an early M50B25NV into an e30 sedan, But the m52b28 seems a whole new ball game with regards to wiring it in.


I have the entire engine / sensors etc, Loom and ECU but that is it. No EWS box or key,

So the way I see it, I have 3 different paths for getting it running,

1. OBD1 swap using an M50B25 Vanos ECU, Loom and sensors / electrics then have that tuned once wired up and running.

2. EWS Delete the E36 M52B28 ECU by cutting wire 66 as per the EWS Wiki - Does this work without having the EWS box and completely eliminate any need for wiring the ews system in anywhere?

3. Buy a matching m52b28 ECU and EWS box, key etc. And follow the EWS wiki for wiring in the EWS system to my e30.

I am New Zealand based so I was directed to ask on UK forums where we had the same Euro spec BMW's.

If I do go down the EWS delete (Which I would prefer as that way I can keep the motor intact as it was removed in a running state), And add in a m50b25 intake manifold.

OBD1 swap is only a way backwards
Cutting that wire wont make any difference, the engine still wont start
