Dear All

After 20 years of running my Hartge H26 - I now have the correct 16 x 7.5 inch Hartge Wheels
They were worth the wait! But originally the BBS rims were the thing to have.
Anyway as part of a general tidy up I am going to fit new tyres - Toyo 888Rs

Question
I have the Hartge Brochures from period and I see the following 16 wheel and tyre options :
7.5 x 16 wheels fitted with 205/50/16
7.5 x 16 wheels fitted with 205/50/16 fronts and 225/45/16 rears
7.5 x 17 wheels fitted with 215/40/17

car has genuine Hartge suspension all round-

with the 15 BBS I squeezed 225/50/15 on the back but funnily enough the car then became less well balanced and went back to 205/55/15 all round.

Advice needed here- I would be grateful for any input/experinece that members have had.
Interestingly the brochure picture shows a non M3 Hartge with 235/45/17 tyres on the front! Can't read size on rear = even bigger- Kevin Bird told me that this was for the photoshoot and the car had to have a lot of mods to make them fit!!

205 x 50 x16 on my H26. If the rears were 8j then I'd put 225 50 16 on them.

I've seen a lot of Hartge rims but never a set of 4 stud staggered one piece. I believe they exist though, somewhere. There was at least one H35 which had staggered one piece 4 stud 16s from the factory, apparently.

235 45 17 is huge! that's the e34 m5 size, must have driven horribly.

Personally i'd be looking at 225 45 16 all round.

might be a little tight on the front, so maybe buy a pair and try them, if theyre not going to work they should be easy enough to sell on.

Staggered setups look nice, but i've not found an e30 that needs it, they feel more nimble and balanced with a matched setup.

saying that, even a 205 r888 is going to have a massive amount more grip than anything they would have come on in the 80s
cheers,

harry

Slight complication
The 888R only comes in with a 215/50/16 they dont make a 205/50/16!

Will try a trial fit with some gash tyres

has anyone tried the 215/50/16?
