My front brake pads do not have the connectors to connect them to pad warning system and hence the light on the dash stays on perminately. Is there any way of turning this light off?

Buy a new sensor? Ignoring the problem isn't the best way imho!
The sensor just pushed into a hole where the spring mounts to the pad, I've never seen any E30 pads without it.

Working pad sensors is one of the things I look for when I buy an E30.
Gives an indication of whether the owner is likely to have serviced the car properly, or just can't be assed.

And of course if you change your pads before the light comes on you can reuse the sensor. Once the light is on, down to BMW you pop.
