Picked up a diff today, for my m50 track car. Tag is clear, as above - has the S before the ratio.
Looks like e30 fitment, seller assures me it was on his m50d e30. Just wondering what it will have come from, thus far a well qualified comment has been from an e28 525e and used in the 325e ?
Looking for confirmation of the compatability with an M50 engine and box please.
3.23 LSD ?

Closeest looks to be the 325e, but that's not what's listed.

Are you sure it is not a 3.25 with a rusty tag ?
Contrary to the info in the wiki, All Euro M3s had a 3.25 except Cecottos / Evolution 2 and Sport Evolutions which used a 3.15. ONLY US cars with the standard overdrive five speed used a 4.10.
PS NEVER assume that the tag relates to the diff it is bolted to ! Always check and confirm the ratio.

Thanks Pete, will get it on a bench and check it. Are the M3 diffs worth more than standard e30 ones ?

Yes, there is obviously the M3 'tax' BUT equally relevant is that they are the ideal ratio for M52/S50 conversions.
I sell good used ones easily for £350-£450. £450 buying a stripped and checked one that has had seals replaced as necc and the casing cleaned and painted.

I got this for my m50 conversion and paid £300 so it sounds reasonable.pacerpete wrote:Topblag wrote:Thanks Pete, will get it on a bench and check it. Are the M3 diffs worth more than standard e30 ones ?
