Buy the best splitter you ca find, I've always found the 2 prong fork type always busts the ball joint rubber.
There's a few makes of spring compressor, just buy a decent make, Draper or Sykes Pickavant.
You will also need some sort of tool to undo the top mount nut while keeping the damper rod still, I make my own by using a deep spark plug socket with the nut shaped top, and using a smaller socket put inside the deep socket, with an extension bar running through the middle, and use a grips on the spark plug socket, it's always worked for me.
You may encounter trouble when trying to remove the damper collar nut, if it's rusted, it can prove a real pain to remove, a grips is what I've always used to remove it.
Renew your top mounts when your at it, and could also buy some new spring seat rubbers at the same time.

I didn't use anything fancy on the ball joints. Just undo the nut so the thread is about halfway in the middle and use a socket set extension bar and hammer to hit them out. Bit of WD40 first and from memory the tie rod first before the mount joint. You're gonna be replacing the nuts anyway.
