Here we go again, another e30 with the brake light problem.
Ive changed the brake switch on the pedal, changed the fuse and also changed the bulbs, yet my brake lights still do not work =( can anybody possible shed some light on the situation?
The fuse gets blown everytime i apply the brakes.

If you're blowing a fuse you have a short somewhere, you're going to have to trace all the brake line wires.

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that so as far as I know it could be anywhere, but there isn't that much to the wiring loom so the first thing/area I'd do would be to check all of the boot wiring for the lights.

What exactly am i looking for? ive had a look around the loom in the boot, all the connections seem to be ok around the lights and the pins on the back of the lights are ok aswell.

No common points at all for problems with the brake light wiring.
Towbar fitted or any signs of one having been fitted in the past?
Is this a six pot car with a lamp check system?
Remove both rear lamp bulb holder assemblies and see if the fuse blows then.

I had similar issues with my 318is but i remember it being a simple fix for that one. this one however is proving to be a tad more complicated.
Does not have a tow bar fitted, nor does it look like there ever was one fitted.
Just a gutless 316 (hangs head in shame ) no chek system either.
I just unplugged the rear lamp holders and the fuse DID NOT blow, would this be a problem with the clusters or the wiring?

It will be a problem with one of the clusters. Try them one at a time.

It was a problem with the right cluster, Ive robbed some clusters of the IS and almost all of its 7.5 fuses haha, so all is working now, Thanks Brian, you've been a huge help more than once =)
I was getting worried I was going to have to trace the loom all through the car.
