It will sometimes say on the inside of the fuel flap, but your car should run on unleaded, and would have run on the old 4 star replacement, not many places that sell this stuff anymore though.

Just use ordinary 95 RON unleaded. I think the handbook states 91 RON or higher.

The manual says 95(or 98 4*), I checked the other day after a similar discussion. I just use Optimax, loves it. Especially as it's now back to 91p/l.TVRTASMIN wrote:Just use ordinary 95 RON unleaded. I think the handbook states 91 RON or higher.

Your car will run quite happily on whatever petrol is available the cheapest in the UK. There is no advantage whatsoever in using petrol with a higher octane rating.

No, but using unleaded petrol in a car intended to run on LRP may lead to an unfortunate demise of your valves. I run my pre facelift 325i on LRP, as i have never been given a definitive answer as to what it needs. A little bit of unleaded wont do any harm as long as you use LRP now and then......so the guy at BMW told me.

That's a different case alltogether.Theo325 wrote:No, but using unleaded petrol in a car intended to run on LRP may lead to an unfortunate demise of your valves. OP's car is a 325 on a G plate.
For your car, assuming it was fed the correct fuel in its early years, and the seats haven't been recut, then they will probably be fine on unleaded.
