Hi, I'm after a front wheel bearing for my 318i.
I want a reliable make but without the crazy pricing. Can anyone recommend a good make??

£45 seems to be the cheapest you can get them individually there or there abouts. I priced some on Car Parts 4 Less yesterday, using the discount code they came to £77 a pair delivered

FAG is the OEM manufacturer

Take it my FAG lorry would give you a happy, yet bumpy ride.

Look how it glows at night :p

Don't take it as absolute, but a lot of cheaper bearings actually use a more expensive SKF or FAG bearing in a different box at a lower price.
I bought the (very expensive) SNR ones from CP4L when doing my refurb. Seem to of held up well so far. Apparently the actually bearing is made by SKF.

You do realise that the bearing outer race is the complete hub? It's not a conventional bearing that you press into the old hub.pipework wrote:Hi, I'm after a front wheel bearing for my 318i.

Is that with abs? Sounds very cheap. I've just ordered the orbis ones from CP4L for £77 next day delivered. Didn't really see the point in buying dear ones when the car hardly gets used. Bearings from the stealers are £126 plus vat each!!

I've got a CP4L one awaiting fitment, also ordered SNR, the bearing itself says FAG on it. It was about £55 with a discount code, £10 more than the Orbis variant.capnmchl wrote:Don't take it as absolute, but a lot of cheaper bearings actually use a more expensive SKF or FAG bearing in a different box at a lower price.

Mine did not come with a new dust cap, but does have a new nut.

I'd be annoyed to replace even a cheap bearing within a few years. The original ones I'm replacing have been on there for well over 200k miles. No idea if that is typical.capnmchl wrote:I bought the (very expensive) SNR ones from CP4L when doing my refurb. Seem to of held up well so far. Apparently the actually bearing is made by SKF.
