Fuel pump and DME relay

Will a faulty fuel pump relay have a similar effect as a faulty DME relay(engine cutting out and tach dropping to zero)?

It would cause fuel starvation, so either a loss of power/flat spots or intermittent or complete cutting out.

The tacho would only drop to zero if the engine is doing zero rpm.
