I am toying with buying with a Jag X type which looks like a very straight and genuine car
It's the 2.5 litre V6
Anything in particular I should look out for?
Thanks in advance

I've looked at these on a few occasions and always been put off when I've done a bit of digging - there was a story in Car Mechanics a month or two ago about one being scrapped for terminal rot - not what you'd expect from a "modern" car so Rust is a major concern
Electrical issues are common
Although the engines and many other components are Ford mondeo there are also some jag-specific ( read expensive ) components which fail regularly but it escapes me what they are.
Nice looking motor but there are much better made turds around for the same money.

As above
Just search X-Typre rust and theres examples of guys cutting lums out of their 03 models!!!

And I'm just about to help a mate "restore" his 99 XKR which failed its MOT on rust close to the seatbelt points. He is currently thinking hes going to cut the 30cm around the area and weld in new metal. We know the car as serious rear arch issues especially where it meets the sills. I fear he is in for a shock when we start chipping and cutting away at it.
Compare all that to say a 00 e46 (ok the front wings may have a scab or two) or a 99 e39? I wouldn't go near one!

Never mind the rust, just look at the sorry spastic. What a sad, pretentious turd they are. A V6 manual for 500 quid might be a laugh but I'd still prefer a similarly engined Mondeo.

I weighed some scrap in yesterday and the boys were prepping an X type for banger racing. Sills absolutely rotten.
