hi people, just after a bit of advice. basically proble is i have a 1989 325i with alpina chip installed, when idling it seems to tick over at low revs sometimes as low as 6000. sometimes it will surge between 6000 and 9000, and other times will idle nicely at about 9000.

any help would be largely appreciated!

p.s. what revs is it ideally supposed to tick over at?

It should be ticking over at 850rpm.
Check you ICV, give it a clean out with some break/carb cleaner, also check for air leaks in the inlet system/manifold.

The chip will slighty raise the standard tickover from 850rpm to 900rpm.
