Hi, i posted many years ago on this group, when i owned a 318i Touring and 318IS, these days i have another old classic, a Volvo 850T5, but am looking into getting back to the beemers. On my travels, i saw in a junk yard a 1986, 316 Baur convertible, underside on one-side near the rear arches were pretty corroded but the rest seems ok. What sort of price would i be looking at to buy this up as a restore project? in doesn't have neither tax or test but does have a full pouch of papers and a genuine 98K on the clock. Any advice?

The reg was C874YDG if anyone can run it through a system or something

As cheap as possible. Not tax and MOT with Rot, a 316 and above all a baur you should be looking as paying scrap value.

ive had a look around and identified the rot to the outer sill, just in front of the arch. can the whole sill be replaced in once piece. the jacking points, well, jack without falling to bits.

what is scrap value for a car like this at the moment, havent cashed in a motor for a while.

Scrap is about £150. Never replaced a sill but they can be bought from imperial carsh repairs for £50. The welding will be many times that though:
