This w'end i will be removing my rear subframe setup with drums, diff etc and replacing it all with painted parts, new bushes and a disk setup from a 325, 4.10 lsd

The car currently has a fully working handbrake with the drums. My disk setup has no parts for a handbrake as the car they came from was setup to use a hydraulic handbrake. I literally just have the disks, calipers and brake pads

What parts do i need to get a handbrake working please? Will i also need to buy complete new cables right up to the handbrake lever?

Many thanks, Christian

Yep disks just need a disk specific handshake cable each.i bought 2 from carpetsforless.co.UK for 16 quideach.not bad for peace of mind. They have a hook that part of the mechanism drops a pin through.

Its a ballache to do its far easier off the car! Have a really good link how it all goes back together wait one...

Thank you mate, that would be great.

I was hoping it would be easy enough to insall the handbrake bits at a later stage as i'd really like to get this swapped over asap

Some great pics how the drum mess goes back together! Maybe you already know plenty enough about the rear beam shenanigans but if not, great articles on the wiki and just gone through ot myself in the motorsport forum, my track car build.

You sound like you just need the cables if the disks have allcthe little components that sit in the drum. And a couple of nuts for the handbrake end.

Feeding the cable once its altogether is fine, but you have to reassemble the brakes shoes and the 2 springs and clip the cable through a pin mechanism...all behind the wheel hub. Its awkward that all.

You need all the bits here X 2, probably less parts 2 and 3: http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E30/T ... ake_shoes/
