Hi, i'd like to de clutter the engine bay a little during my build. I also intend to build a nice airbox with a good cold air feed. I was thinking of losing the header tank from where it normally is and replacing it with a slimmer but longer type that could perhaps sit next to the rad at the front as there is space there.

Has anyone done this, is there one of another model that would suit this idea?

many thanks

Christian

BMW have already though of both of your ideas! A perfectly effective cold air feed is already fitted to your car, drawing from immediately behind the LH headlamp, and a radiator with built in header tank, in the place you suggest, is used on the M40/42 engined E30s, and most, if not all, later models.
Different length lower radiator mounts are available, which enable several BMW rads. to be fitted, and the standard E30 top mount can be adapted to fit them as well.
