Gents;
i believe the coolant temp sensor in the 318is is fecked, just want to be sure before i order a new one.
can i test it using a decent multimeter by measuring resistance? if so whats the tollerances?
cheers

Cold temperature is anywhere between 3000 and 4000 ohms, depending on the time of year/country/weather. Should be around 300 ohms at engine working temperature.
Even if it's right at the extremes, there's still the possibility that it might not 'track' right at temperatures in between - a fact that once allowed me to buy an E30 several years ago for much less than I should have paid.
A little searching on the web should find the full temp/resistance graph.
