The cooling system was improved for the m20 on facelift models as the pre facelift cars system was a little marginal.
But in good condition, used under normal circumstances the standard system should be fine. Why do you feel you need more cooling?

Aircon spec rad or tropical rad, or using one from an e36/e34/e39.
But yes the question must be asked, why do you think you need more cooling?

just curious i decided to lose the viscous fan and go the electric fan way and its fine but not used to having the temp gauge move so much when sitting in heavy traffic not sure its going to be up to the job come summer time. to be fair the rad does look a bit tied though.

What did you base your decision on to remove the viscous fan and replace with electric?gromgsxr wrote:just curious i decided to lose the viscous fan and go the electric fan way and its fine but not used to having the temp gauge move so much when sitting in heavy traffic not sure its going to be up to the job come summer time. to be fair the rad does look a bit tied though.
Sounds to me like you have down graded your fan, and now you are looking for a sticking plaster remedy to rectify it.
What you need is the viscous fan back.
Only my opinion though.
