Hi I brought a 325i e30 convertible a few months ago just wondering how do I maintain it , I don't have a lot of info on the conversion etc but do I have to use high performance oils , plugs etc is there a thread on maintainence ?? Also when the boost comes in its not as quick as I thought it would be after seeing vids online there turbo look lairy as fuck it a m20b25 original e30 lump , maybe taking it to a dyno/tuning place ? Live in the Essex area any suggestions ??

Try asking the previous owner more about the spec and plugs used etc, different turbos will come on to boost at different revs. It'll be worth getting it on the dyno and see whats happening.

If you're not mechanically minded then you need to find out as much about the conversion from the previous owner as you can and then pass that info on to your local friendly mechanic.
Its not a standard engine so there will be lots of things that you will need to keep an eye on but again, best to talk this over with a friendly mechanic.
AS for how its running, take it to a trusted vehicle tuner with a rolling road and they'll be able to tell you if its running okay or not

tom it can be a totally standard m20 you can run boost tho them and they love it
as for maintainance just service it like a normal engine id use either 10w40 fully syn or if ya getting higher oil temp up it to 10w50
are you suggesting the car isnt quick or the boost is coming in late up the rev range?
as for boost coming in late that will be because youve prob got a bigger turbo so it takes its time to spool up
as you seem to not know alot about it i take it you dont know what management you running ?
theres plenty of us about that has turbo m20s

One tip. . . .always allow the engine to idle for a short while after use. This allows the turbocharger internals and oil to cool down properly in a controlled manner

it's not to let it cool down its to stop oil starvation to the turboHJG-E30 wrote:One tip. . . .always allow the engine to idle for a short while after use. This allows the turbocharger internals and oil to cool down properly in a controlled manner
