Just noticed a whining sound from under the fuel tank. Fuel pump was replaced about 5 years ago - under rear seat, "in tank" variety. I guess the only option is a new one?

Any chance that the tank has been dented upwards under the pump?
Pump whines loudly when the copper of the commutator wears through, which tends to be 200,000 miles plus.

No sign of that. It only begins to whine after running for a time say 15 mins...

Check the condition of your tank, I have a rusty petrol tank and I replaced the pump but if there is "rusty residue" in there in won't help as my replacement whines in a completely random manner. I am sure I will get stuck one day...

Needless to say a tank and pump swap is on the cards next year all being well.
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Got the pump out. Will bench test at work tomorrow. How can I make sure I order the correct replacement on eBay please?
