Can someone tell me if there is any difference between the oil cooler on a pre facelift sport and a post facelift,ie mounting brackets etc.I need a cooler and can get hold of one in good condition but it,s off an early sport.Need to know if it will fit ok.Cheers in advance guys.

Yes they mount to the car with different brackets.

You can fit both to later cars tho.

Thanks andrew. So it will just be a case of altering the brackets to fit the cooler to an 89 model?

Also, are the pipe fittings the same on both? 1/4 bsp or metric size?

I have a combo on my 2.7, pre-facelift cooler and pipes with facelift take-off plate

The facelift cars have the mounting points for both types. The pipes are the same thread size.

Post facelift parts here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=17&fg=05

If I were you I'd buy 2 of the o-rings (part 15 for early and part 4 for facelift) for the take-off plate connections to the oil cooler pipes. They fit on the end of the pipes and are invariably knackered or missing.

I'd also fit it before you change the oil and use some engine flush to dissolve the crap inside the cooler.

Cheers,
