Air conditioning compatibility

Hi guys, I've done a few searches on this issue, and can't seem to find a definitive answer from those of you that have done it. The situation is this - I have a 325i Touring that will, in the fullness of time, receive an M52 transplant. The E30 has factory fitted air con which I want to retain. I've got all new pressure hoses, R134A conversion kit, new condensor, drier and belts. I'm not going to fit these till I know that they are compatible with the M52 donk.

My question is this - is it possible to link these hoses up to the M52 aircon compressor, or does anybody do some adaptors?

I cannot help you unfortunately, but have actually wondered this also. I do not see why it will not work !

check out US based e30 sites, R3V and e30tech. A lot of the m52 cars on there have A/C

Ian332isport had aircon on his S50 conversion, but I've not seen him active on here now. His threads should still be here though, they might have some details.

Both my M52 and M60 conversions run A/C using the standard e30 internal unit converted to use R134a. Have used the OEM A/C compressor from each motor and had pipes made to suit.
Ideally, you should use a R134a condensor but the oem e30 one will work. Also, R134a gas molecules are smaller than R12 so, if your rubber pipes are the original ones, i would replace them as they might be porous to R134a.

Will - brilliant, thank you. I have all new hoses, drier, condenser and rubber O rings to fit to the car. I've done some research and have found the consistent message is that the compressor hose has got to be custom made, but everything else is ok?

Its part of the evaporator, in the matrix.
Dont worry, if you do bring your work to me you wont have any problems.
The aircon on my chromie has been fine since I first converted it to R134a and M52 spec back in 2007
