Hey all,
I posted it in a cleaning forum section before - but maybe i should have it here...
so here it goes!
the engine bay of my 30 is pretty greasy...
Im thinking of taking it for a steam clean - but want to be sure if the steam clean will not trigger any leaks, create any seal or gasket damage?
Cheers,
M.

I have done it plenty times.
Critical electrical items like the ECU are stashed inside the cabin out of the way.
That said though, I always wrap a plastic bag around the coil/distributor to avoid getting moisture in there.
Car will splutter a bit as plugs leads are wet and the belts may squuel for a while but I have never had a problem.
Cannot comment about seal damage though....can only say I have never experienced any....I will let (other) experts here chip in about seals/gaskets.

Just remember degreaser and hot water will remove oils/wax that are stopping water getting into the body seams.
Personally I avoid using any kind of degreaser at all, if there are particular dirty bits you want to clean up then something like WD40 and a small brush is just as good/better and you wont end up with water in any seams
