Hey guys, i've got a grinding/contacting noise coming from the blowers. they intermittently work on 1,2,3 but always work on 4.

Any ideas what it would be? need a bit of lubrication in the motor?

It's accessible through the engine bay.

Just did this yesterday, once you've got the motor out, carefully hoover out all the crap thats collected in there over the years and have a good look for any rot along the scuttle.

A very enjoyable little job that, was nice not to be on my back under the car for a change, cursing/straining whilst holding something in place and trying to create some extra joints in my fingers to get a nut back in place..

You need to stand the motor on end, drip oil down the motor shaft and move the motor until it runs free and then turn it the other way and do the same at the other side

You may need to repeat this several times before it runs how it should

Getting the metal clip back in when you put it back in the car can be fun :x

Run it dry for long enough, and it might well be. If you attend to the bearings' requirements when they first start giving notice, then lubrication will solve the problem.
Quite a bit of sideways movement is normal, but any movement at right angles to the shaft signifies a scrap motor.

It's all around movement so i'm 99% sure that the bearing will have gone. i'll take the motor out and see if i can source a new bearing. thanks everyone!
