you probably need a new sender unit located under the rear bench on the passenger side beneath the black inspection/access cover .

If this has a 62 litre tank, with two level senders, it's unlikely to be a sender fault, since both would have to be faulty for the gauge to read permanently full.
If this is the case, it's more likely to be the brown/green wire shorted to earth somewhere.

Pull the three pin plug off of the level sender on the fuel pump assembly. If the gauge drops to zero, the sender is the problem. These often get damaged when someone tries to remove the fuel pump without removing the sender first.

Sorry to hijack although it might be op's next questions, where is the ground point for the fuel senders? If this is the case, it's more likely to be the brown/green wire shorted to earth somewhere.

Under the rear bench? I had a look and couldn't see it.

If it turns out to be a faulty sender, I have one.
Schadenfreude - the German's haven't got a word for that.

Any chance that the fuel gauge is for a 62 litre tank?
