hi, thought id stick up a quick post of the problems i had with my m20b27 that turned out to be caused by one thing,
1st of all after the conversion it never really idles properly, so i changed the icv, cleaned the throttle body, new gasket, rocker cover gasket, inlet manifold gasket, and breather hose, was better buty still not fantastic, to i gave up and assumed it was just cause id built a 2.7, second was a lack of power below 4k rpm, then after that loads of power but a light hesitation almost like a misfire, so i changed plugs, leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap, still woth no success, then the other day it decided it wouldnt rev past 4k rpm at all, almost like a rev limiter that only cut the spark,
i changed the edu and it still did the same, put thestandard 325i chip in and still the same,
only thing left to check was crank sensor, but i had a new one for euro car parts when i did the conversion, but it wasnt a bmw one, it was jsut a £57 from euro sensor,
managed to get myself a used BWW sensor off ebay and now all my running issues have been cured in one go!! drives soo much smoother, and seams to have more power below 4000 rpm and a more gradual increase over it.
more of the story... dont buy cheap sensors.
