On my M20B28 the brake pedal at times go soft and right to the floor. If you pump it, it goes firm again. Only happens sometimes. Anyone got any idea's?

sounds like a master cylinder on the way out to me.
shouldnt be related to engine temperature, but i suppose if old the seals could be softening and leaking when theyre hot?
it's obviously not good though, so assuming the rubber hoses are all alright, and there's no wetness around the callipers it's got to be the master cylinder.
if you can, get the car in there air whilst someone pumps the pedal to give you a chance to look at the brakelines / calipers whilst under pressure.

I had changed all the brake pipes to copper and put on braided lines, also had changed the servo and master cylinder (both second had) about 8 months ago then used it for about 2 months (brakes where perfect) then i had put it away for about 6 months.
today was the second time that the brake pedal had gone soft.
