Hi all,
As the title says i pretty much drive like a grandad.........but not today!!!!!.
I was driving along the town bypass duelcarrage way when i spotted another E30 almost thouching my rear bumper!!!!,then he overtook me......so very unlike me i dropped my 318is baur down to 3rd and chased him and overtook him!.....to cut a long story short the other car was a G reg 325i.......he couldnt keep up with me!!!!!!!!.
My car has the m42 engine with 30k miles........but that said a 325i shoud be faster..........shouldnt it????????? :o .......

It makes you heart beat a bit doesn't it?

I love it when you meet another e30 bombing round. I've had a couple of chases with E36s as well which is even better fun cos you want to show them a thing or 2. One cut in front of me and I revved it to high heaven in 2nd as he also took off and we had a little burn. I think he was 5 up though in a 316 and mines a 2 litre - fun!

Your talking about a 105bhp engine vs a 170bhp engine.... he would of easily had your Baur off.. maybe he slowed down to have a closer look at the true unbridled horror that is a Baur... lol

a 318is has around 140bhp not 105bhp.

A 998cc mini could beat a 2.5 e30 if the mini was booting it and the e30 driving like a granddad.

Couple of things....
1.
My car is an is with 140 bhp..
2.
Why the dislike for baurs???,correct me if im wrong but its alot lighter(and quicker!!) than the standard vert....without all those beefed up sills etc....
But the maun point is that I LOVE my baur and doesnt really matter what anyone else thinks!!!! :D

Yes i would have thought that too....140bhp v's 170bhp!!!,still think that my is is pretty quick, maybe because it only done 30k???......it loves to rev!!!.....i used to own a 320i a couple years ago...and the is,is much faster although the 6 cyl sounds lovely!

Still the Baur looks like some Pikey took a normal e30 and did a DIY convertible job on it with a whizzer and a bit of old tarp.

Nasty..

Cabs are for full on homos, Baurs simply mean you are Bi-curious, nothing to be ashamed of. Symptoms should clear up in a couple of british winters, when you will become a full on hetrosexual again and yearn for something with a roof.

As a completely unbiased opinion and having owned both models in question, I think a very healthy IS could surprise a TIRED 325i especially in town. But reality is the 325i is king when it comes to this long long debate.
The car in question was probably absolutely shagged with a slush box and retard driving.

I did say tired though Steve, I bet some 325i owners on here have been shocked to see what their car is actually putting out on the rolling road after 20 years or so. Of course the m42 is going to fall away after all these years as well.
