Alarm help

Would like know if my alarm still works on my car I think it's factory fitted?i have 2 sound censors on both corners on the dash and a little red light that can pushed?i think it should flash red.i have a key that switches the alarm on or off under the bonnet nothing happens when I turn the key but it doesn't look disconnected.is ther a way to know if it still works or that it does work and I'm doing something wrong lol.

OE alarm is controlled by a RF remote fob. The key switch switches the alarm permanently off, but doesn't arm it when turned on. That has to be done with the fob.
The red LED is another red herring - it feels a bit like a switch, but it's just the way it's constructed.
