Airbox

Ignore the tape...

Just been trying to fit the airbox and it looks quite tight. On one end it's up against the rad and close to the hose, if I move it away from the rad it gets very close to the throttle body and it also fouls on the arch.





What have you guys done to make it fit? The 90deg elbow I have will be useless if chopped up because of it's crappy tolerances the maf is already fall out of it.

Oh yeah, the tape is basically holding together a 320 bottom and 528 top halves of their airboxes

It's that hose thats and the width causeing the grief :p I had another play earlier with the box. Like you, I can masage the fender (which I'm not to keen on) or get some heat into the box and push the plastic in a little. My MAF is nearly right up by the TB, not sure it it's possible or good practice to have it that tight and if I can get a elbow to fit it. I've also got the abs pump which I'm moving towards the strut, the box gets close to it, just about wont hit it.

Did you massage the airbox a little so it's not as tight up against the arch? What elbow did you use?

No not bashed anything, its the samco hose

What about the little supposrt foot on the underside, did you leave it on or do anything to it? Might have to invest in one of those samco hoses.

Where do you feed cold air from with the e36 box, cut a bigger hole and duct it from the front light cover?

Ahh, I remember now, I cut the foot down a bit, to lower the box

On my chromie the intake is right up against the headlight cover which ive cut out larger, ive not finished the other car yet

The afm looks to be a little higher than the tb, i'll trim it till it looks right, think it means less room between it and the arch though.

Yeah it is close on the arch but once the foot is located and its bolted at the side its not going anywhere
Ive got mine about level with the throttle, yet to fix it down though
