I purchased my first one for my 21st birthday...(15 years ago)...a black 316 auto, enjoyed every mile I put on it.

BMW was the last on my list of German Cars; I'd had an Audi (and therefore a VW) and a Merc beforehand, and didn't fancy a Trabant so a BMW was next. That was only three years ago though.

i remember seeing jeremy clarkson testing these, the e28 and i think the same era 6 series when i was about 8. and i fell in love with the black mean looking square shape, the interior all square and simplistic and just generally wanted one to blast around the west coast in. then for a joke i put an e28 into an insurance quote site when i was 17 and it was the cheapest quote i got, my love was rekindled and after almost buying an e28 i bought my first e30

He'll wet his knickers when he see's that pic lol
I got a thing for the e30 when I was about 13 growing up in calverton (notts) as there was a guy in the village who had a lachs silver tech 1 sport & then an m3 sport evo when they came out so it's all his fault lol.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

I replaced an '81X E21 323i with an '85C 323i in '88.
I've always owned at least one BMW since.

I always like BMW's from a young age. I remeber goon to the dealers with my dad when he picked up the e24 which we still have and the 316i lux which I broke for spares last year
I was 9 when he picked up the e24 and 11 when he got the e30. I'm now 32.
I got my 1st e30 when I was 19, a tech 1 sport in dolphin grey.
My first bmw show was the donnington park 'Octoberfest' in 1993 or 1994

Wow some real old skoolers here! I love the fact that some of you guys have owned/experienced these things brand new. What I wouldn't give to go back in a time machine!
When I was about 5 my uncle ken had an orange e21 323i, my gran would always complain that he went round roundabouts 'on two wheels'
There is nothing cooler to a 5 year old petrolhead than going sideways in an e21!

My unckle had a touring when I was a kid. I thought the boxy shape was great and loved them ever since. Then a mate drove his parents iS to school when we first got our lisenses this being the first time actually in one, I was again charmed by the boxy interior. Back in 2008 was looking at golf GTI's and thought 'monkeys to this.. I want an E30.' It's never taken the smile off my face whilst driving...

Early 1983 when my Dad brought one home from Brackell a month or so before they were launched. Nearly 30 years ago.

At 17 I was looking for an E21 (323 in orange probably) but ventured into air-cooled VW's for a good few years and then GTi's before my first E30 (current one) in 2005

Ah, so it's not just me who fell in love with M-cars because of that one film.
I fell in love with E30's when I was around 8/9. I'm now 18 and still don't own one
Hopefully I'll rectify this next year. I'm determined to make an E30 my first car.

Never really fancied one when I was younger tbh - they were OK but I always wanted a Capri...!
Then when my 2.8i killed its gearbox again (early 2004?), I needed a cheap RWD smoker & some dodgy geezer on here was selling one...
E30 in need of wiring loom smoke since April '11...

I always liked them, and being an impressionable teenager at the time of their introduction, they just got into my psyche.
So, when my 1970 Triumph Vitesse became too troublesome to run as a daily driver, I part-exed it for my first E30, a B-reg 1984 320i, which was a mere 10 years old at the time.

I remember being followed by an E30 in my first car ( Mk IV Fiesta ) and I loved how aggressive and mean it looked! I HAD to get one, so I purchased a 325i Sport Tech II when I was 19, having never driven an E30 before. Hd it three years now and i'm never ever going to get rid of it.

my dad bought a 325i in 1990, it was 3 years old and had 90,000 odd on it. I went with him in the gold 318i e21 5 speed he had, to part ex it. I was 7 at the time. He reckoned it was clocked to! zinnobar 4 door it was. He was so excited to have 6 cylinders! He had a drag race with my grandad in his old 2.8 granada up a dual carriage way to settle an argument. It murdered it as you'd expect thinking back.
Anyhow when i was 18 in 2000ish i'd saved up enough money for a decent motor. They suggested an old e30 like your father had. Oh dear, what an influence parents have!
