Was hoping to fit 6 branch to my track car but just remembered that it has an e36 non-PAS rack fitted. Will the different rack be a problem?

This is the 6 branch I have in mind.

Mark, there is no way of telling without trying to see if it fits! You might be lucky, but looking at it I dont think there is any way it will fit with the six branch.

I've just had a close look and it's very tight for space. :( Mick @ www.pristinebodyworks.co.uk is confident he can get it to fit though so am going to give it a punt. He who dares and all that. winkeye

Has anyone else, with an e36 rack, managed to fit a six branch?

I have an ebay type 6 branch and a BTB3 6 branch (that clears the E36 rack) off the car at the moment, if I get a chance tomorrow I'll photograph them side by side, may give you/Mick an idea of what the clearance is likely to be. I didn't try the E36 rack with the ebay manifold, just the standard rack.

I'll be sunning myself in Cornwall as of next weekend, but I'll ask them to take pics galore. :)

^^^ +1 I know a BTB3 manfold clears both the E36 and Z3 racks...

Good luck with the fit - looks a nice manifold that! :thumb:

Thanks. I picked it up earlier this morning. Having seen it in the metal and spoken to Theo, I think I'm going to get it ceramic coated. Anyone know any places in Essex that do it?

Mark, PLEASE dont have it coated unless you know it will fit. A decent coat will be around the £300 mark, and i would hate for you to have to modify the manifold after its been coated.

Links below. Hard to get a 3D image so you can see it properly, but it looks like header no2 cylinder will be the problem one. This is the first close look I've had at it and tbh the Raceland ebay cheapie looks like it will flow much better than the BTB one. It doesn't really show properly in the photo, but it has a couple of really tight angled bends on that runner. Would be interested to see how it looks beside an early BTB manifold, tbh I can't really see it doing anything special never mind making another 10/15 brake or whatever the before and after dyno graphs posted on the forum were supposed to show. Pretty sure the "development" for the BTB3 consisted of getting it to fit around the rack, not flow/power.

At £350 for the Raceline one, it seems worth a punt anyway.

So long as we get Theo's old manifold on OK, I'm going to put it back on the dyno to see what difference it makes.

I know this was over a year ago but.. What was the outcome? Currently have an unknown most likely ebay stainless manifold on my e30 6 branch and im wanting to upgrade to a e36 rack would be good to know before buying danthe's kit. Cheers Tommy.

Look at the difference in the bends on 4/5/6 in this pic, the collector is further over too

From looking at the pic id say you got no chance :(
