i have an '89 316i lux,

fitted with all the running gear off an '87 325is.

i ran two wires from pins 8 & 9 on the round plug, hanging off the firewall in the engine bay (C101 i think it's called), to the ecu. in an attempt to get my rev clock and econometer working.

my problem now is that although the revs gauge climbs as i accelerate, it doesn't read the correct value. at idle instead of reading 1,000 revs it reads zero!

how do i fix this?

coding plug is also correct.
