Hi there.
I've got a genuine mtec 2 side kit that I want to fit for my car
I have the instruction manual from BMW but unfortunately it assumes that you
A) have all the clips and screw etc
B) have the fitting template kit
I have just missed out on an auction by a few minutes for the template kit.
And the parts catalogue is not very clear what the part numbers required for a 2 door in regards to all the clips and rivets that are required.
Does anyone have any experience in fitting these? Ie measurements for drilling the holes and also the parts (numbers) required. Or even if anyone has done it another way using non OEM clips and fasteners?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
I will, when in front of the PC upload the parts catalogue diagram and the Fitting manual for the forums benefit
Sam

I have the full BMW fitting instructions, which gives all the drilling dimensions.
PM an email address, and I'll send it.

i dont understand why you need a drilling template for anyway all the side pods just push on the skirts clip to the pinch seam
front and rear pods slide in to the skirt then just drill a couple of holes on the arches and rear quarter job done
you need these for the skirts 51711938940
these for the pods on the doors 51162239735
these for the holes in the door and body work 51121867907
and this if you wanna be anal about it 51712239899
you should be able to count how many you need i cant remember of the top of my head
the rest is just a couple of screws

Sorry, but I've made a mistake! The instructions I have that give the drilling dimensions are for SE type side skirts, not Tech II side panels.Brianmoooore wrote:I have the full BMW fitting instructions, which gives all the drilling dimensions.

I have the instructions for these as well, but they refer to a template for most of the required holes, and I suspect this is the same instructions that you already have.
If you still want them emailed, post on here.

The skirts don't just clip to the sill "pinch seam", they also clip on to plastic brackets that fit to the top of the sill.ross2009 wrote:i dont understand why you need a drilling template for anyway all the side pods just push on the skirts clip to the pinch seam

This is what the drilling jig templates are for, the holes that the brackets clip to.

Sorry for the late reply to your pm mate, all the part numbers can be found here:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=51&fg=20
If you give cotwolds bmw a ring, they sell all the parts necessary all the time and will let you know exactly what you need.
When i fitted mine i didn't have the templates, the bodyshop should be able to figure out where to drill by offering up the side skirt to the car.
