Anybody on the forum from Oz?

My brother is planning on moving this summer and looking at car options. He raced PBMW and now a 325 in racing saloons here, and would like to keep racing as an option after he moves. He has a few ideas - ship an E30 as a road car and convert it when there if he wants to race, ship the race E30 over, ship roll cage and competition parts over to build into an Australian E30 when he gets there etc etc.

If anybody is familiar with E30s in Australia (and the E30 racing series so much the better) can they drop me a PM, thanks.

There's a chap on here who does the Aus version of PBMW. Can't recall user name though.

@brian28.
Hi... i ,m not a racer, but i do have 2 e30's.

Try searching for a guy called Alpine Ade. He is a mod on here as well.

Advice for you brother. ... bring his car and as much gear as he can get inside a 20 foot container. e30's are outrageously expensive here and the exchange rate makes that even worse... on the upside, shells are mostly rust free ...

Brian,

A PBMW spec car would pretty much be eligible for Improved Production Racing anywhere in the country - there are racetracks close to most state/territory capitals.

That being said, if he happened to move to Victoria, he could make a few small changes and come play with the E30 Racing Cars in our series, as well as Improved Production all over the country.

Most of the FIA/MSA Standard gear in the car would suit CAMS (Australian version of MSA), thought I would check out the roll cage tubing diameters against the requirements of Schedule J via: www.camsmanual.com.au

With the costs of shipping, import tariffs and GST (our 10% VAT) you'd be better off bringing the product of your blood, sweat and tears with you. If you've already spent the money building a race car, you know how much it's NOT worth to sell and start over from a bare shell.

Particularly when your currency makes the move so dis-advantageous these days.

Where is your brother moving to - get in touch with me via PM and we can exchange information!
