I decided to buy some genuine bmw hub nuts as the torque setting is so high on them.
They arrived today with no tongue to knock over into the stub axel.
I emailed the guy who confirmed that they were the correct ones and that you have to clout the edge of the nut until it dents into the stub axel?
Surly thats not right is it????
Cheers in advance

that is correct.
The top of the nut has a region that is a few mm thick, using a punch, you knock this part of the nut in the recess machined into the end of the axle stub.

They should have a flange which stands proud of the hexagonal part of the nut (like a self locking nut but thinner walled).
This is the part you knock into the cutout on the threaded axle.
