I have just finished getting the front end of my car back together. Last job is the hub nuts. The manual says they need to be torqued to 280 NM.

Thats a crappy haynes manual and I have a built in distrust of them after all these years tinkering.

Is that the correct torque setting?

Cheers in Advance

I think 280 Nm is correct but it's been a while since I have done this. If I remember correctly, my torque wrench only torques to 240 Nm so I did that and the nut required something like another 1/4 turn to line up the securing tab with the notch - so that would be about right.

Bentley says 290nm +/-29nm Dad always torques it right, winds it back and torques it again. The collar nut is one time use only I think.
