Before I just give up and bin it can anyone offer any suggestions to whats wrong?

So far this is what Ive done.

I've tested the switch and all 5 micro switches with the squeak function on my muttimeter and all appear to work fine and all wiring appears to be fine too.

I've put everything together, but not actually connected the roof mechanism to the levers on the motor assy. Everything is in the defined position according to the BMW manual, ie. the roof lever is in the assumed position for the tension bow up, micro switch S1 (tension bow up) just closed and S2 (tension bow down) closed. The top is locked down with micro switch S3(top cover open) closed and S4 (top cover closed) adjusted to be just open.

Set like this from what I understand the switch should now work the motors, but it doesn't.

The only thing I can't work out how to test is the speed input, would that be just a switch principle (grounded when stationery open when moving) or is that more complicated?

Failing that, I guess the control unit could be knackered. When I bought the car the board was still connected, but hanging out of the casing. I checked for damage and could,nt see anything obvious but I guess given the delicate nature of the components damage wouldn't be obvious.

Any input would be most welcome.
