Afternoon fellows,

I recently bought these fine adjustable top mounts from martinpallot:

Thing is, I'm doing a 5-stud conversion using E36 coilovers and this threaded sleeve is M12x1.5 (E30) and doesn't fit! I didn't do my homework and hence didn't realise until now...

My question is, would it be safe to drill this sleeve out and re-tap to M14x1.5, i.e. E36 fit? I'll take it to an engineering workshop to get it done to make sure everything's square etc. Quick responses would be appreciated, many thanks!

Yes that would be ok, there seems to be plenty of material there, but you could always get a new nut?

Thanks, I thought so, just wanted a second opinion - if the nut cracked it wouldn't be the end of the world and result in top mount failure, it just keeps the top of the strut centred in the mount.

The bottom part of the nut is not threaded and is a sleeve that sits inside the rose joint so would have to find another sleeved nut which might be a pain. There's an engineering shop pretty much opposite my work.
