Hi guys havent been on for a while car was off road for a while busy doing other stuff etc etc any ways i crashed it into a parked car after a snappy moment  . Its not that bad i was quite lucky i hit it on the strongest point i think and the car i hit was a cossie saphire so its a soft as!

Any ways im thinking the insurace company may write it off due to the mileage its covered (215k) but you wouldnt think it would have cover half of them to look at it a few guys on here have seen it, its got black leather, obc, cruise control and nearly all parts upgraded suspension, 6 branch loads of other bits but they wont take them into account. So if they do write it off what sort of money should i aim for? What would it cost me to get another rust free sport? Cheers for looking people

I know the car is repairable as in i can get someone to do it, but from an insurance point of view its an "old BMW". The company that im with is churchhill and im fully comp.

Catch 22, the more you push for the less likely it is to be written off. If it's that good, I'd get it repaired by a proper garage on them...

That is definitely a write off. Half that damage would be a write off.
Since you are already involved with insurance, because I presume the other party's claiming off you, then get for it what you can, and try to buy it back.

They have already agreed to fix it, its in there as we speak they valued it at Ԛ£3k even though its high mileage. Didnt really want them to write it off so im happy with that providing they do a good job on it. Just a bit annoyed as i was only 5 months off 4 years PROTECTED!! :x oh well as they say sh*t happens.

Ԛ£3K !!! And not on agreed value?. Blimey, didn't know Sports carried that kind of premium.

That is quite a good value! I thought 2k would be good going on a Sport no matter how clean as the book value is so low!

I'll probably get flamed for this but... I know sports are becoming an endangered species, but what about the cossie?

Cossie Saphires where great cars, and there are definately not many of those about, two hero cars one crash... Why couldn't it have been something like a micra or metro?

i cant see how theres Ԛ£1400 worth of damage there, i had a similar one a couple of weeks back, needed a new wing, lights ,light carrier ,grill, bumper cover, metalpanel behind bumper, bonnet and i managed to get all the bits and fix it myself for under Ԛ£200. mind you insurance approved bodyshops would be charging around Ԛ£50-Ԛ£60 per hour. is there any charges pending? such as careless driving?

Just thought I'd chip in, before i had the e30 I had a mint mk2 Golf 16v. Someone pulled out in front of me and I hit them with the nearside coner of the car, very light damage. It needed a front bumper indicater lense and the front wing re - spraying. The parts cost was less than Ԛ£160, and that was genuine parts, I priced them myself. When the car was repaired by the insurance approved bodyshop the parts were'nt genuine and after I insisted they tell me the cost of the repair they reluctently said the bill to the insurance was over Ԛ£900. IMO a blatant piss take, on top of that I had to take the car back twice to get a acceptable job done (boy did that curtisy car suffer). My point is this being an "approved repairer" dont mean shit, when you have any repairs if its not done by anyone of your choosing go over the car with a fine tooth combe because once you've signed the satisfaction slip you've had your lot. Good luck and dont get :wales:

Especially check that the side of panels you don't see is done properly.
A few months ago I bought a rear ended 316 on the strength of a couple of photos, solely because I wanted a set of front end bolt on panels in that particular colour.
Turned out that all the front end panels were just six years old (BMW labels on the backs, with date), but both wings were completely rusted out, because they'd been fitted with no attempt to paint or seal their inner sides.

Hey guys havent been able to write back for a few days, anyway first one the value of the car. My insurance company first said it wasnt worth much more than the cost of the damage and my answer to that was that if they wrote it off i would expect them to pay me the amount it would cost me to replace the car rather than the book value so after hunting around for cars for sale (which is hard enough!!) we ended up settling for Ԛ£3K which i was aiming for. As last September i had someone reverse into it nothing major just paint and they said then Ԛ£3100 as the value. As previously mention they are getting rare now.

As for the price of the repairs i couldnt believe it either! My brothers girlfriends dad does body repairs and he probably wouldnt have charged me more than Ԛ£500. Insurance body repair "so called" specialists are a total rip off and i dont think they do as good a jobs as smaller one man firms you can find. As soon as i get the phone call to say its ready the first question i will be asking will be to see there invoice from the BMW dealer they got all the parts from as he assured me the parts would be from the main dealer. But that could be complete :cens: so if hes lied to me i will be most upset with him and voice my opinion to them and my insurance company.

And who ever said the cossie saphire is a nice car :screwy: . The engine thats in it is good but at the end of the day its its just a Sierra. The cossie wont be getting repaired it folded up big time :D oh well nevermind i wont lose any sleep over it  . Just hoping they have done a real nice job on my car i will post some pics when its back. Cheers guys.

Sorry, but IMO the cossie is a nice car, the rework on it made it handle quite well, and it would be worth more than the sport too, probably 4 - 4.5k!

Not saying it's better than an E30, clearly it isn't, BUT it is still a nice car!
