I have a very precise problem with my 1992 325i auto.
Generally the car runs fine feels powerful and return OK mpg

When cold the engine is hesitant on pick up for about a second as nothing happens. When the engine is warmed there are no problems.

All the things listed below made only a slight difference.
Checked air leeks
New manifold gasket and studs
New HT leads
New temp sensor
AFM changed a couple of times in the last few years but not by me
New ECU chip

On reading up I am wondering if it could be the TPS, experts needed, thanks.

TPS functioning/adjusting and injector rebuilding are the two missing from your list.

Thanks, its only from cold which makes me think its not the injectors, I've also put a few bottels of injector cleaning fluid through as advised by my BMW specialist garage.

I have a similar problem with my manual 325i, I've had the injectors cleaned which didn't help the cold start problem but gave piece of mind.

Last weekend the throttle body came off and I reset the butterfly so that the flaps sits 0.0015 open (used a feeler gauge), tps reset so that it's comes off the idle map as soon as the buttlefly starts to open.

If it's not too cold I'll get it back together hopefully this weekend, hoping this sorts out the flat spot I have just off idle when cold.

Be interested to hear the outcome although you may be doing that in the snow!
