jus woundering what the problem is with my ps. it works when turning left, but then sometimes stops working when turning right. could it be pump, rack??? the power steering fluid is very dark, and the ps belt needs changing stretched right to the end could it be these.

If the belt's stretched, then it'll slip & obviously cause problems. Changing it's easy, so there's the starting point for you.
The fluid shouldn't look like that either, so change it when you've done the belt, whether the problem dissapears or not.
