Hi guy's

sitting bored in work trying to compile a list of " things to do" to my touring :D

getting a bit costly

however, i've decided that i really should do the diff and gearbox oil as its probably overdue!

What i'd like to know is what oils do you recommend?

box is standard 320i box and diff is 4.10/4.27 small case

thanks

the parameters for the gear oil are 90/API GL4 (1.15L), although all of this is explained in the E30 car book, including the diff oil and the engine oil.

Well I probably wouldn't recommend anyone else do this just incase and you might think I am stupid but I am using automatic transmission fluid in my 323i's manual gearbox. Because of the age of the gearbox and it being very worn ATF has been recommended to me by a few people, including a mechanic, to help make the gearchanges smoother and easier. It seems to be fine so far (I have been using it for the last 10,000 to 15,000km).

I have MTF which Honda use in their type R cars and also Land Rover in their 4x4's. A mate used it in his CRX and said the difference was superb, i was thinking of using it in my 325i sport. Anyone think this is a bad idea?

I've just put Silkoline Syn 5 in both my diff and gearbox. Feels very smooth compared to before moving them by hand. Not had either running yet though! It was the Oilmans recommendation.
