Hi every one wondering if you can help???
I have a e30 m3 the steering was shaking a small ammount at around 70-80mph so i decided to have the wheels balanced after doing this when i hit 60 mph or above steering shakes vigorously from side to side, i took the car to another wheel centre have the wheels balanced again and its still doing it
i have swapped the wheesl back to front
the alloys are not buckled and the tyres are not misshapen.
i have looked at the bushes and they all seem fine one of the lower ball joints had some sign of wear but there was no play could this be the problem it does not shake under braking when under 60 mph so i doubt it is the rotars.
please help the car is mechanically 100% and this is starting to anoy me
any help is much appreciated
kind regards msingh

I would replace the track control arm bushes, they are Ԛ£11 each, you will probably be advised to get the tracking done after this.

Also, don't know if you possibly have aftermarket alloys fitted, alpina reps perhaps? If so, well worth investing Ԛ£19 in a new set of spigot rings, they are the little plastic rings that fit on the hub and make sure that your wheels fit central to the hub

Alpina reps are well known for it as the centre hole where the raised bit on the centre of the hub fits is a bit too big on the wheel, so when you fit the wheel up to the hub you don't get it centred properly. It will be better or worse each time you remove and refit the wheels as some times you will get it centred better, by luck really.

I got mine from a bloke called John at wheels uk, give him a call on 02476 342999, tell him what your motor is and what your wheels are and he will post you a set of 4 for Ԛ£18.99, he's reliable and his gear works. He can do switch card etc over the phone.
